Easy Tamarind Rice Recipe | கோவில் புளியோதரை சாதம் | इमली चावल

Tamarind rice/ Puli sadam / கோவில் புளியோதரை சாதம் / इमली चावल जो साउथ इंडिया के मंदिर में मिलती है
Tamarind rice is a very delicious spicy tangy rice preparation from South India. It is also called pulliyodharai in Tamil. The tamarind pulp is infused with roasted and ground spices and a temperng of lentils seeds and peanuts in sesame seed oil to make this puliyam sadam or imli rice . This pulliyogare is a light meal and can be had as lunch or dinner or even a snack depending on what accompaniment if any is had with it.
This pulliyam sadam or tamarind rice is also given as offering or prasad at temples in South India.
We at Desilicious Kitchen have shown an easy method of preparing this awesome kovil pulliyodharai without compromising on the taste.

Ingredients needed to make this easy tamarind rice / கோவில் புளியோதரை சாதம்
Raw rice/சாப்பாட்டு அரிசி / खाने का चावल 1 cup
Tamarind/ புளி (வாழும் புளி /கருப்பு புளி )/ इमली 3/4 cup
Red chilli powder/ மொளகா பொடி / लाल मिर्च पाउडर / 1tbsp
Jaggery/ வெல்லம் / गूढ़ / 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder / மஞ்சள் பொடி / हल्दी / 1/2 tsp
coriander powder/கொத்தமல்லி விதை பொடி / साबुत धनिया पाउडर 1/2 tbsp

Tempering/தாளிப்பு /चोक
1 tsp mustard seeds / கடுகு /राइ
2 tbsp split Bengal gram/ கடலை பருப்பு /चना दाल
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds/ வெந்தயம் விதை/ मेथी दाना
2 tbsp peanuts/ நிலக்கடலை / मूंगफली
4 red chillies/ சிவப்பு மொளகா / लाल मिर्च
1/2 tbsp Asafoetida powder/ பெருங்காய பொடி / हिंग पाउडर
1 tbsp curry leaves/ கருகவெப்பல / कङीपत्ते

to roast and grind/ வறுத்து அரைக்க / बुने और पीसे
3 tbsp white sesame seeds/ வெள்ளை எள்ளு /सफेद तिल
2 tbsp split black gram/ உள்ளுதம் பருப்பு / उरद दाल
1 cup sesame seed oil/ நல்ல என்னை /तिल का तेल
